I decided to add a blog to our Sandolay, Inc website and I am excited to begin sharing helpful tips, discuss product benefits and help identify important things that have inspired me as I began creating and move forward with what this is all about for me. Sandolay is a fun nickname I acquired over the years. I chose to name my company that in the hope I could share the parts of me that are most intimate, extremely fun and offer inspiration to you. I believe it is important to have an identity that is special, personal and exciting! Throughout my blog experience I intend to delight you with details on my creations and the best parts of who I am. I feel I can offer helpful tips and advise about the products I create and give you motivation to begin a new positive movement in your own life. My goal with all of my products is to transform your atmosphere into a place of great peace, tranquility, love and happiness. I intend to do that in many ways and we will discuss that. I am excited to check in and see how you like everything. I am open to constructive critism as I create and tweek products, recipes and patterns. I believe perfection comes by evaluating the opinions of those who offer it and making calculated, educated adjustments as I move forward. But you should know that I have a firm foundation in my Christianity and that is where I hope to maintain a strong and firm stand.
That leads me to the reason why I began creating items and selling in the first place. The Sandolay, Inc. company is a result of many things in my life coming together all at once. I have always been a crafty person. I love to crochet (and may add some of that to my inventory at some point). I love to sew. I love my cricut. I love Pintrest. I love to make candles, soaps, lotions, sprays, scrubs. I love to design, create and gift. When I am taking an idea and bringing it to life, it is exciting. It usually takes a few tries to get it right, but I don't mind that. In fact, working out the kinks is sometimes the thrill of it. I am an accountant and have my own small business working with other entrepreneurs. I am familiar with entity structures, taxes, payroll, investing and all the things that come along with that.
So, I am a Christian... I love crafting... I am an entrepreneur... what made me reach out through Sandolay, Inc. to touch others? Well... my son, Kyle, died May 2, 2020. The grief is overwhelming when a child dies. He was 22 years old, a US Army Specialists, stationed at Fort Carson, CO. You can read more about him and see his pictures on my "About Us" page. I remember standing over his casket at one point and saying to him, "I'm not done, son. I wasn't done being your mom!" I knew it then, I knew I wasn't done being Kyle's mom. I just didn't know how to be his mom when he wasn't physically here anymore. I began to pray, in my grieving, that God would show me something positive I could do with all the pain, confusion and heartache. I began a study on Heaven. I needed to know everything about where Kyle is. I had trouble sleeping and I would wake in the middle of the night asking God to steer my grief in a positive way. It began with an over abundance of Honey that was in my pantry. Yes, I love honey, too! I had so much, like a lot! I got on Pintrest, in the middle of the night and began looking for what I could make with all that honey. I began making soaps, lotions, sugar scrubs. As I was purchasing essential oils and fragrances, I researched what I could make with all that inventory. Candles seem to be a relaxing and exciting product for me to produce in larger quantities (for one person, anyways). But how could I make the best, natural, healthy and most inviting products and continue to honor Kyle's legacy? And so on, and so on. We will discuss my searching and what I have discovered thoughout my blogs. But, as you can see, there is so much depth to the begining, it is hard to pinpoint just one thing to answer the question. I feel the most important thing I have to offer (and my tagline) is that no matter what happens in this life, we have a purpose through a God that specializes in the impossible and offers eternal life. And for that reason it is my goal for everyone who will hear it to make their Mission: Heaven. And may each product I create be a little gospel light into your life.
Welcome to Sandolay, Inc. I hope you will share with me as I continue to grow. I am just a WIP (work in progress) for a Savior that assures me I will see Kyle again in heaven! But until it is my time to go, I will pursue the purpose God has created me for. Now, let's blog about these items and all my amazing discoveries along the way. Let me know what you want to hear about in the comments below.
